Manchester United has received a response from Chelsea following their £40 million bid for player Mason Mount.

TRANSFER NEW

The midfielder from Chelsea has become a top transfer target for Manchester United at their home ground, Old Trafford.

Chelsea Football Club has recently turned down an initial bid from Manchester United for their talented player, Mason Mount. The Red Devils made an official offer of £40 million, but Chelsea seems hesitant to part ways with their homegrown star for such a sum.

According to reports from the Daily Telegraph, United's bid fell considerably short of Chelsea's valuation of the 24-year-old midfielder. Nevertheless, there are indications that Manchester United is preparing to submit another offer in the coming days.

As per the Evening Standard, Chelsea is demanding a much higher fee of £70 million for Mount, even though he only has one year remaining on his current contract. The club had initiated negotiations with Mount last season to extend his contract, but it is now widely reported in the English media that he has ruled out signing a new deal with Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea faced a challenging 2022-23 campaign and, following an eventful transfer window last summer, they are looking to streamline their squad for the upcoming season. The club's newly appointed manager, Mauricio Pochettino, faces the difficult task of reshaping the team to bounce back from their previous struggles.

In addition to Mason Mount, there are strong rumors linking Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic with moves away from Stamford Bridge. Havertz is reportedly a transfer target for both Arsenal and Real Madrid, while Manchester City is eager to bolster their already impressive midfield options by adding Kovacic to their squad.
