Former striker Torres of Spain has been appointed head coach of Atletico Madrid B.

Atletico Madrid's B team now has World Cup-winning former Spain striker Fernando Torres as their head coach, the La Liga team said on Tuesday.


"I view it as an incredible challenge filled with a great deal of aspiration and the serenity of knowing that we are prepared," Torres, the former Atletico Madrid under-19 coach, stated in a statement. 


The forty-year-old Torres scored over a hundred goals in two stints with his childhood team, Atletico. 


In addition to helping Spain win the 2010 World Cup, he also helped them win the 2008 and 2012 European Championships. 


Along with playing for AC Milan, Liverpool, and Chelsea, the forward won the Champions League and Europa League with the London team.


 Along with Atletico, he also won the Europa League.
