The Super Eagles striker opened up on life in Italy and he feels there is no better place for him amid the ongoing transfer rumors.
Victor Osimhen has been in the news lately as one of Europe’s biggest commodities. He scored 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions, helping Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years. Because of this, media outlets across Europe have linked him with a summer transfer. Several European giants are in the mix. These include Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. Yet, as Napoli seek an alleged €150 million for their striker, many of them have turned away.
Despite these rumors, Osimhen is content where he is. The Nigerian has been quite open about his love for the city of Naples and his current club. He recently spoke in glowing terms about Napoli in an interview with the Nigerian outlet, Soccernet.
“Wherever I go, I am being respected,” Osimhen said.
“Kids love me, a lot of people admire me, they idolize me by putting on the replica of my mask. It shows the hard work I have given to them and what I mean to them. And for me, there’s no better place to be than this place.
“I am so happy I made the right choice by coming here.”
Osimhen is currently on his summer break after a long season of football.
The 24-year-old last played for Nigeria on June 18 in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone. He scored twice in the game to help the Super Eagles take a 3-2 victory. The win helped the Group A leaders stay two points above Guinea-Bissau in the standings.
