The Catalans have signed four new players this summer.

Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez, has called on the club to make more signings during the summer transfer window.

So far, Barcelona has secured the services of four players, three of whom will be available to play for the club at the start of the 2023/24 season.

The signings include Oriol Romeu, brought in as a replacement for Sergio Busquets from La Liga club Girona for £5 million, and free agents Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez. Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque has also been signed but is set to join Camp Nou in 2024.

After a remarkable 3-0 victory over Real Madrid, Xavi addressed the club’s limited spending this summer. He revealed that he has discussed with Barcelona president Joan Laporta the need to further strengthen the squad for a competitive edge in the upcoming season: “I think we are lacking [a few players].

“We have to strengthen ourselves a little more. The president and the sports management know it. To be competitive, we have to strengthen ourselves.”

The lack of depth in Barcelona’s current squad has led Xavi to rely on several young players during pre-season.

One such player, 20-year-old Fermin Lopez Martin, made a significant impact with a stunning goal in the victory against Real Madrid.
