Ten Hag: Man Utd need more clinical finishing from Rashford

The England international has remained a crucial part of Man Utd’s attacking setup under Ten Hag.

Erik ten Hag has urged Marcus Rashford to work more on his finishing at Manchester United.

The Red Devils have managed to climb up to the fifth spot on the league table after bouncing back from their poor start to the season.

However, their goal numbers have remained uninspiring as they’ve scored less than any other team in Premier League’s top seven.

Rashford’s improved form has provided United with some crucial goals this season. But Ten Hag believes there’s a lot of room for improvement when it comes to his finishing.

“He did a lot of things well but he knows he has to be more clinical and he had to score a goal,” said Ten Hag.

“When you have such good movements and make such good combinations, good actions, then you have to finish.”

Man Utd have plenty of options upfront, with Cristiano Ronaldo also pushing to reclaim his starting spot. However, Ten Hag says midfielders and defenders should cooperate more in the team’s attacking efforts.

“I think we have in our squad players who can score that number of goals. But I think we also need something from midfield and the defensive department,” the Dutch manager added.

United could break into the top four for the first time this season by beating Newcastle on Sunday.
